Goosetown got it's name from the Historical District with the same name on the Northside of Iowa City where the restaurant is situated. The district has heavy ties to Eastern European immigrants who migrated to the area around 1850.
The visual direction plays off those early Eastern European roots with a whimsical, yet strong wordmark paired with a nice sturdy serif. We use an additional serif reminiscent of a typewriter as an accent to give the direction a handmade feel, akin to a newsletter off the desk of Czech newspaper.
